In June of 1999, Klein & Solomon, in partnership with The Law Offices of Mel Urbach, Labaton Sucharow & Rudoff LLP and other leading law firms, filed a class action lawsuit in the Eastern District of New York on behalf of Holocaust victims against the Republic of Poland for restitution and compensation for property seized during and after World War II. In 2007, the partnership opened a law office in Warsaw, Poland, to research and advance individual claims, and lobby government representatives with regard to restitution bills making their way through the Polish Parliament.
Klein & Solomon also helps Holocaust victims and their heirs recover prestigious artwork sold under duress to or stolen by the Nazi regime. Our meticulous search for historical information – the evidence necessary to prosecute these claims – is conducted at locations throughout Europe. We are currently in negotiations with museums and individuals throughout the world relating to Holocaust families’ art claims.
